Navigate efficiently through the platform and refine your results using filters. Filter results by language, topics, location, categories, or formats for greater precision and relevance. Discover how to select only AFP news or top shots.

1. Filters and facets, what's the difference ?

FILTERS: Refine the news wire

In each tab of the news wire, you will find filters.

The filters on AFP News are predefined categories that allow you to select specific topics. For example, if you want to discover the latest sports news, you can use the 'Sports' thematic filter. This will display only content related to sports, making it easier for you to find the specific information you need.

πŸ“£ PURPOSE : Filters customise the news wire to only the content that interests you. You can use multiple filters at the same time.

πŸ‘€ NOTE : Filters may vary across tabs. For instance, the 'Language' filter is not present in the photos tab.

FACETS : Refining search results

Facets allow you to narrow down search results. They, therefore, vary depending on the returned results.

πŸ‘€ NOTE : Only the facets present in the search results are displayed.  Language facets are an exception: all languages are displayed, even if no result corresponds to any of them.

πŸ‘€ NOTE : Facets within the same family can be combined. Checking multiple items within the same family expands the results. For example, in the 'Topics' facet, if you check both 'Sports' and 'Environment', you will find documents that belong to either the 'Sports' theme, the 'Environment' theme, or both.

3. Filters and facets : automatic preferences

  • The final selection in a filter is automatically renewed for future views of the news feed, even if you log out/log back in.

  • Facets do not remain active when you leave the search page to consult News, Calendar, etc.
However, they remain active if you perform several successive searches without leaving this page (by changing the criteria, order, filters, or tabs in the search results).
