 In this article, you will find all the existing restrictions concerning the videos available on AFP News:

A restricted video is marked up like this :

Territorial restrictions :

  • Germany out: the content cannot be used by a client based in Germany or in a program or service targeted at a German audience.

  • No access from Germany: The public in Germany cannot have access to the content.

  • No access from Germany -mandatory geoblocking: The public in Germany cannot have access to the content and geoblockingis specifically requested when the content is made available using a technology that supports geoblocking.

Clients restrictions :

  • No use by xx: The client xx must not use the content.

Time restrictions:

  • No use after xx: The content cannot be broadcast or published by clients after said date. The content published online by clients before the expiration date need not be removed from clients' digital properties, if it remains up online in the same form and within the same original context.

  • Mandatory take down after xx: The content cannot be broadcast or published by clients after said date. Content published online by clients needs to be removedfrom clients' digital properties after said date.

  • Embargo until xx: Do not use before the set time or any other condition stated.

 Usage restrictions:

  • Editorial use only: To be used to report on current events and/or to illustrate a subject of public interest. No corporate communication, no advertising, no fiction, no entertainment, no gambling, no betting.

  • In the context of the event only: Content to be use only to report on the event.

  • No cropping, no resizing, no overlay: No cropping/resizing/overlay at all

  • News bulletins only: To be used to report on current events only. No corporate communication, no advertising, no fiction, no entertainment, no gambling, no betting, no documentaries, no magazines, no talk shows.

  • No use of soundtrack separately: The soundtrack cannot be used separately.

  • Mandatory on-screen credit: Means that an on-screen credit must be added or maintained.

  • Mandatory credit: Means that credit must be added in the manner chosen by the TV channel or the publisher.

Restrictions per market segment :

  • No digital: No use on digital media properties which include online, mobile, wireless, social media (if requested by the source, we can be more specific with no web, or no mobile, or no social media...).

  • No xx: Means that a specific segment is excluded (for example: ‘no web’ ; ‘no mobile’ ; ‘no social media’).

  • Broadcast only: Broadcast on TV channels and simulcast & recast on TV channels' branded digital media properties.

  • For AFP Subscribers only (formerly «no resale»): No “a la carte” license ; no use by subscribers of AFP distributors or a la carte clients of AFP distributors.

  • Distributed as a service to subscribers: Means that AFP neither owns the IP in the content nor has a license from the owner of the content. Does not concern images released by institutions.
